What is Mental Health?
According to WHO , Mental health is defined as "a state  of well-being in which every individual  realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruit fully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community".

Mental health affects how we think, feel & act. It is important at every stage of life, from childhood, adolescence through adulthood. During our adult lives, a large portion of  our time is spent at work and one of the factors that determines our overall well being in the work place is "our experience".

Globally, more than 300 million  people suffer from depression , the leading cause of disability. More than 260 million are living with anxiety.
                                                                -WHO

Mental health in the Work Place

....a place where I don't have to feel depressed or anxious before and after carrying out my duties.

A positive  work environment has its benefits.Imagine working in an environment where standard precautions are met, health & safety of workers a top priority, initiatives to promote mental health & support provided, fat salary to meet up with your family needs, trust me. . . .you wouldn't have to get anxious or depressed.

A negative working environment may result to physical and mental health problems, harmful use of substances or alcohol, absenteeism and lost productivity. The list goes on and on.

Positive Habits
  • Stay healthy, eat right and exercise
  • Stay positive
  • Seek Professional help if you need it
  • Connect with others, avoid isolation
  • Help others
  • Develop coping skills
  • Get adequate rest
Always remember:  There's no Health without Mental Health!

Does everyone have the same coping skills?

We have different degrees to which we can cope with a particular situation or stressor.
